I also clicked on the "What's New" link and then on one of the lastest archeological field reports. Plenty of illustrations and graphics (large and small) and readable by Secondary and advanced middle school students. Younger students might try the graphics for their reports and projects. Sample to right -- Teacher might download an image and print in large format, duplicate with a research charge appropriate for the age group. Provide a pointer on the assignment sheet to the URL...let them read about and report on the image (s).

A revisied page that loads quickly and fits nicely in the browser. It now acts as an excellent gateway to the high quality resources at the Oriental Institute, and one of those pages that offers new material to the visitor at each visit. The Collections at the Archives of American Art
Teachers of American and current World History might find this site very useful. In my very first visit I clicked on the "Oral History" links and read the transcript of the Rube Goldberg interview. The text format should make it easy to adapt to a classroom dramatization or simulation. The Archive makes a claim to be "...the largest source in the world of primary source documentation on the visual arts in America..." with over five thousand collections (letters, diaries, sketches and sketchbooks, photographs, exhibition catalogs, scrapbooks, business records, art periodicals, and other types of documents). AAA's oral history program features approximately three thousand interviews. Go to the Doing Research section for additional assistance on using the collections. United States - Punishment and Prejudice: Racial Disparities in the War on Drugs
"Ostensibly color blind, the war on drugs has been waged disproportionately against black Americans." This site is organized to enable browsers to select sections of the report for online viewing or printing. Teachers covering the events of the Summer next Fall might use the site as part of a look as "Justice" as it was served up during the vacation by the courts (including the Supreme Court) and the administration of the death penalty in the states. See the site below for Missouri, and students might be given the task of locating the meterials on Texas. Since this is likely to be a campaign issue, these pages could also be background for current events in the next school year. By the way, Google is currently my favorite search tool, with fast focused searches that seem to list the best sites on that first page of links.
Capital Punishment in Missouri
I clicked on page 3 (of 5 pages) on executions between 1938 and 1965. The page displayed the pictures of 8 men and 7 were Black. The site does not comment or editorialize on the racial disparity and apprears neutral on other issues associated with the adminstration of the death penalty.
